Dec 2006 Kids' Birthday Bash!!

Finally, after mths of preparation, the day for the kids, Birthday Bash arrived!! :) We had it at The Little Gym (Marina Square).. :) We reached earlier so that PH can warm up to the surrounding.. and indeed, before the bash starts, he's already running round n round the gym.. :P

The Dec kids' Birthday Bash!! :)

PH's first performance on stage.. :)

PH performed for the first time for his childcare centre's graduation concert. Last year, he just joined the school and was not willing to participate in their concert.. this year, he's finally able to perform.. :)

was looking forward to his first performance.. decided to go although i'm still in confinement.. :P however, he had high fever the day before and we thought that he's going to miss it again.. luckily, he got well enough on the day of the concert to perform.. :)

hubby and i were looking forward to his performance.. wondering how he will perform.. will he be like 妈妈 who loves the feeling on stage, or will he be like 爸爸 who has a bit of stage fright... :P

looking thru the performers' list, erm.... PH is being grouped together with toddler/pre N1 although he's already in N1... :P

My little moo moo gal.....

PY has the appetite of a cow!!

no time and energy to blog for the past few wks.. coz was bz coping with PY.. she's a marathon latcher... she can latch continuously for several hours b4 she can be satisfied.. was really tiring to keep latching her... :(

had a talk with my fren who used to be a BMSG volunteer counsellor.. was adviced to 're-train' PY.. i may hav cultivated her bad habit by 'feeding on demand' previously.. so now, will refrain fr feeding her if she had already finish drinking.. hopefully she can change her bad habit by the end of my confinement..

due to her continuously latching which really affected me, i gave in to pacifier n bottlefeeding.. both which i really dun wish to intro to her.. but got no choice.. i'm not sure if she has been latching for comfort or she's really hungry.. i tried supplementing her with EBM aft latch.. hoping tt she will be staisfied.. but she still need to latch on before she's willing to nap again.. den tried intro pacifier as i dun want her to cultivate this habit of latching to sleep.. but pacifier rejected..... :( i'm still not giving up on the pacifier though... there's times where the pacifier works.. but oso times when it fail... but, at least i will know tt when it fails, it means tt the gal is really hungry.. :) well.. erm.. pacifier fails most of the time... so i think PY has a really big appetite.. :P

she has gained ~700g aft discharge fr hosp.. fr internet, avg weight gain for newborn is ~170g per wk... for a 3wk plus newborn like PY, i think she has gained quite alot... :P hope she won't become a 肥妹 in future.. :P

Pin Yi's jaundice...

PY's jaundice is quite bad.. has been going up n down with phototherapy treatment..

On Mon, brought her for blood test.. it was 277.. PD thot it's high.. but asked us to go back n come for another blood test the next day.. the reading on the next day gave us a shock.. it went up to 377.. i thot i heard it wrongly when PD told me the result..

PY was immediately warded n started double phototherapy.. she got blue light on top n below.. so she was lying on the hard hard plastic with only her diaper.... reading dropped to 330 at 4hr treatment and 250 at 12 hour treatment.. PD was happy with the result and was quite confident that we shd be able to go home the next day if reading is below 220..

however, at 24 hour treatment, the reading was 228.. seems like the decrease rate slow down.. so PY had to undergo another round of treatment.. PD ordered phototherapy to stop at 5.30pm (30 hours treatment) and blood test on the next day was 202.. so we were discharged aft 2 nights stay in the hosp..

these few days, we had to make sure tt PY is drinking enough milk and monitor her yellow-ness... if she turns very yellow b4 her appointment on Mon, we will hav to bring her to NUH children's A & E for blood test.. will have to be admitted again if the reading is more than 340...

she seems to be turning yellow again.. so most likely will need to bring her back for blood test during the weekend... hai........

妹妹 has a name finally.. :P

yupyup.. finally, aft 1 wk of waiting, we got the name selection fr WayOnNet.. :) there's quite a few names for us to choose.. aft much discussion with hubby.. we have decided on naming 妹妹 黄品颐 (Huang Pin Yi).. :) many asked me how to pronnouce her name... is it really that difficult? opps.. :P

妹妹 has arrived.... :)

just when i thought that 妹妹 will be taking her time, she chose to give me a surprise by coming out 2wks earlier than the EDD.. :P

here's the birth story to share.. :)

2.40am: juz planning to sleep aft playing endless round of bejeweled.. but having tummy cramp.. so couldn't sleep..

2.40-3.40am: dun feel right as had 3 pains on n off within an hour.. went toilet, nothing.. no show no poo..

3.45am-4.45am:
started packing my half packed hosp bag.. hubby was excited n walk ard the house aimlessly.. :P i was the one to put in camera n extra batteries.. :P

pain starts coming at interval of 3-5min with 1min duration.. starts getting more intense and the pain radiates fr my lower abdomen to lower back.. called NUH delivery ward for advice.. was told to either stay at home observe longer or go to delivery ward immediately if i can't tahan the pain..

waterbag broke juz when midwife asked abt it (really know how to choose timing to break) :P so midwife wants me to make my way to hosp immediately...

called in laws to standby at hosp to fetch #1..

5am: reached NUH.. wheeled to delivery ward.. contraction getting more intense.. reading on meter already shoot up to 99... confirmed with midwife that i want to try for drug free delivery.. midwife said tt i will hav to wait for MO to check if i'm in active dilation b4 she can call my gynae..

midwife was really cute... kept commenting to another midwife in the room that 'this gal can tolerate pain well.. first one no epi.. now oso dun want epi...'

5.15am:
having the 'want to poo' feeling.. MO not here yet.. midwife did VE for me n realised that i'm already 5cm dilated.. immediately called my gynae..

midwife brought the mask for gas just in case i want to use the gas.. but still finding pain tolerable by breathing technique... so dun want to use the gas..

5.40am: gynae arrived.. did check and told me i can start pushing once the next contraction comes.. i was like 'huh??? so fast??'.. :P

5.44am: after 2 waves of contractions and 4 pushes, bb gal arrives.. crying really loudly... :D gynae asked if hubby wanted to cut the cord but hubby dun want.. i wanted to cut but i dun dare to ask gynae... :P

this birth experience is different compared to PH's.. it's so much faster.. from contraction to delivery, it took only 3 hours as compared to PH's 8 hours... :P pain was oso more bearable.. i could tolerate even without the gas.. it could be due to an all natural birth.. when i was delivering PH, my waterbag was broke by gynae and i was put on drip to increase intensity of contraction.. this time round, waterbag broke by itself.. and i wasn't put on drip.. everything progressed smoothly.. :)

hubby oso commented that this labour seems better.. :) i controlled my pain well and pushed well too.. he said by first push, the head is almost out.. 2nd push, head out liao.. shoulder out by 4th push.. :P when i had PH, it took several pushes to have the head out... :P

妹妹 is a super complain queen... :P cried non stop the moment she's out.. :P loud cries too... :P she appeared abit red n blue on the face.. but pd said it's fine.. was due to congestion during birth.. and will recover within a day or 2.. :)

little updates...

haven't been blogging actively recently.. getting more n more tired.. at this last stage of the lap where i juz want to finish it FAST!! :P

just some little updates.. :)

PH is almost toilet trained.. :) y almost? he can control his output rather well.. can tell us tt he wants to pee n 'tong' till we bring him to the toilet... BUT, he refuse to let us know when he poo...... :( so we have to look at his expression.. if he got this awkward, fixed look on his face with rigid body, tt's it.. he is poo-ing.. :P if we r fast enough, we may be able to bring him to potty without any 'gold' dropping out.. but most of the time, it will be 'gold' on the floor... :P but i think the boy often choose to poo when he's on the diaper.. :P currently, he's diaper-less at home... wondering when to start him without diaper when we r out...

little one is doing well too... :) went for CTG today.. gynae said tt she is a happy baby... expecting her to stay in tummy till full term.. :) not too gd news for mommy here though... coz i'm already suffering fr bad backache... pain at the thigh area too.. at night, if i turn in my sleep, i will wake up in pain.. my tummy is getting too big for me.. water retention set in too.. my feet are swollen.. n my hands go numb even aft holding the chopsticks for less than 5min....

PH seems to love his mei mei currently... will often pull up my tshirt to say 'hello'.. :P and he loves to spread moisturiser on the tummy for me (more for fun to him).. :P and he will put his face to my tummy n say 'mei mei kissed me leh...' really cute... :) hope things stay this way when the little one is out.. :) i forsee some jealousy though.. coz PH has been insisting tt he is a little bb recently and want us to cuddle him.... hmmmm... :P

'horse' riding @ vivocity....

papa promised to bring PH for horseriding today if he behaves well during his weekly music class... PH did behave himself.. and, he remembered papa's promise to him :P BUT, papa was making empty promise to him... he got no intention of bringing him for a pony ride... @_@ we wanted to go vivocity instead... so i told PH that he will get his pony ride at vivocity instead of the real horse... luckily PH was agreeable to this instead... phew...

paid $4 for a 5min ride.. we didn't know tt PH really have to ride it himself... thot tt it was those electric operated ones... :P

first 4 min, PH got no idea how to ride it himself... so papa got to push him around...



he was quite bored coz he dunnoe how to ride it.. :P



finally, aft 4min of struggle, he got the trick.... and super tired papa finally can rest.. :P see him riding happily.. :P

Build-a-Bear for 妹妹

妹妹 will be arriving soon.. we hav already prepared a gift fr 妹妹 to PH... so i was thinking of getting PH to prepare a gift for 妹妹 too.. thought of build-a-bear as PH can participate in making a bear for 妹妹.. :)

PH insisted on carrying it himself... but he was struggling.. hahaha... quite a cute sight.. :P

lantern festival...

PH carried his first candle lite lantern at gong gong and mama's house.. was running ard happily with his lanterns... luckily, none of the two lanterns caught fire.. hahahaha... :P





爸爸and 妈妈 got PH barney candle lite lantern too... brought him to walk ard the estate...
